My Path Into This Work

My interest in bodywork began long before formal training – through a natural curiosity about how things work and how touch can bring ease.

I believe that good bodywork begins with safety, presence, and respect.

Frequently Asked Questions to Cheryl

My interest, curiosity, and a preference for using my hands for bodywork.

We’ll begin with a brief conversation to understand what you’re seeking. If I feel that I’m not the right practitioner for you, I’ll be honest and, where possible, refer you on.

When you’re on my massage table, my intention is for you to feel comfortable and safe. I work intuitively, listening closely to the body and allowing my hands to follow what it communicates. Each session unfolds in its own way, your body sets the pace, and you’re supported to relax as deeply as it feels right for you.

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that works with the body’s natural rhythms and nervous system. In CST, I use a light, yet attentive touch like what you may feel when you rest your hand on your arm.

I aim to support/ facilitate your body’s own ability to settle, rebalance, and self-regulate. Many people find it deeply calming and restorative, even though the work is very subtle.

Massage usually works directly with muscles and soft tissue using different levels of pressure to help release tension and improve circulation.

Craniosacral therapy is much gentler. Instead of working on muscles, it focuses on supporting the nervous system through light touch. The work is subtle and aims to encourage the body to settle, rebalance, and respond in its own way.

The two approaches feel quite different.

Think of it as a blended, hybrid session with an eclectic feel. The main modalities used are massage and craniosacral therapy (CST).

Firstly, massage works directly with muscles and soft tissue to ease tension and stiffness, and to support healthy circulation.

Next, CST uses very gentle touch to support the nervous system, allowing the body to settle, rebalance, and respond at a deeper level.

When combined, massage addresses physical muscle tension while CST supports deeper nervous system regulation. The two modalities naturally complement one another.

This integrated approach enhances relaxation, supports stress relief, and can help with pain management.

My background is in Occupational Therapy (OT), which I completed in 2013. OT continues to shape how I understand the body, mind, and our capacity to heal.

In the same year, I also completed training as a professional dog groomer. This was a very hands-on role that deepened my respect for touch, patience, and working intuitively with different nervous systems (human and animal alike).

In 2014, my curiosity led me to explore more subtle and energetic approaches. I studied Quantum Touch and completed Reiki Level 1. I later upgraded to Reiki Level 2 with Leah in 2021.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, I felt drawn back to hands-on bodywork and completed a series of massage and reflexology courses with Kenko Academy in Singapore in 2020.

Most recently, in 2025, I completed a Diploma of Remedial Massage with Evolve College in Adelaide.

I am currently studying Craniosacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute, deepening my understanding of the nervous system and the body’s innate ability to rebalance and settle.

Before we begin, we’ll have a short chat to learn more about you and what you’re seeking from your session. If it’s your first visit, I’ll show you the space so you feel comfortable and at ease.

You’ll then settle onto the massage table.

At the end of the session, there’s time to share any feedback about how the session felt for you. I may offer you a cup of drink before we part ways.

My sessions are often chosen by people who experience feelings of high stress, overwhelm, or simply seeking a quiet and nurturing form of hands-on bodywork.

Sessions with me may also suit those who prefer a gentle approach or are curious about exploring a different way of supporting their wellbeing.

More About Myself

If you’re still here and curious to know a little more about me, I’d say I’m something of a generalist- a Jane of a few things, still growing into mastery.

Professionally, my path has been varied and guided by the heart. I’ve waited tables, groomed beloved four-legged (and sometimes three-legged) companions, and supported animal shelters and op-shops along the way. As an ex-occupational therapist, I’ve worked closely with older adults in residential care, including accompanying someone at the end of their life- an experience I hold with deep care and respect.

Alongside this, I research and present US-based company case studies using value-investing frameworks for educational purposes. At the core of it all, I remain a student- continually learning as a self-employed practitioner, offering gentle healing first to myself, and then to those who resonate with what I share.
